    It's almost by design isn't it, the platform of distributing videos displaying all these signals that we use as a value of our worth. Imagine any other artist, a painter, a craftsman, they simply create and release their wares and move on to the next project. That is the problem with technology today, it isn't humanistic, it is crafted to exploit our weaknesses. We have to use expoits to hide the 'recommended' videos, to return the dislike button, to hide 'shorts', if we as users complain, it is only natural that the creater finds problems with the design; we can struggle internally to try to wrangle this part of our selves, or we can change the system or workflow to detach ourselves from seeing those things.

    Thanks for the very good review. I have an ST 100 with Country Rock from Michelin tires (a bit better for the road) and i'd like to upgrade. I mainly go to work with it but like to also go on little adventures from time to time :) I'm hesitating between a Riverside 500 or 700 (maybe even 900) and an ST 520. I'm thinking the Riverside could be lighter, maybe the bigger wheels can be better for traveling. What do you think ? Thanks

    • @TheOneGoodRoad
      @TheOneGoodRoad 13 днів тому

      Hard to say. I can say that the ST520 is excellent value for money, the brakes could be better but do the job for light trail riding. I would definitely change the stock tyres. I even installed an e-bike conversion kit on the ST520 I leave a link if you're interested. One thing to consider is that the ST520 has quite a heavy hard tail, it's strong but on the heavy side. I wouldn't choose a bike like this for steep climbs off road. Works well with an e-bike conversion kit for sure. 😉 ua-cam.com/video/glcvGL-FK6Y/v-deo.html

    Iv installed mine on a Carrera E vengeance as an upgrade. Which allows me to route the cables internally. Iv put a torque arms on the rear wheel to prevent the spindle spinning and chewing the aluminium drop outs. You might want to keep an eye on yours . I would highly recommend a SR suntour suspension seat post its a game changer. Plus its possible to charge the maximum amp output from the display giving you more power on hills. Think mine is set to around 13 now. Iv bought a rack/bag off Amazon and used the polystyrene packaging from the new 2nd battery to make it fit perfectly within it .

      @@TheOneGoodRoad if you press and hold the SET button on the display it will change to a settings screen where you can make basic adjustments. If you then while still on that page hold the SET button again and the minus button together another page presents it's self a "advanced settings". Used the SET button to scroll through the settings and the +/- buttons to make adjustments. I think the maximum amp output is the last option on the "advanced settings" You kit should have come with a little booklet explaining it . Torque arms ancker the spindle to the bike frame so that the wheel spins instead of the spindle. Those washers with shoulders are torque arms technically but as they don't fit completely flush so theres room for potential movement, which could over time cut into the softer aluminium. Iv put some aftermarket one on mine as a precaution.

    • @TheOneGoodRoad

      @user-ux9ll3yk5y ah right. I'll have to take a look at that in the settings and where did you find your torque arms? My only concern is that a lot of them don't say if they're stainless steel. Maybe they are or maybe they aren't, we never know with AliExpress... 😆

      Glad the video helped. I think I'd have to explain in a UA-cam short perhaps and I've already installed the PAS sensor and it's best I leave it in place. Perhaps I can explain via diagrams. I tried to explain in this video. The main thing is to take off the cranks and install the sensor on the drivetrain side on the ring. I warn you that you might need quite a bit of patience but it's definitely worth it and it's possible as I demonstrate in the video. 👌 Hopefully the e-bike industry will improve the compatibility of future sensors for road bikes.

    • @TheOneGoodRoad
      @TheOneGoodRoad 20 днів тому

      I'm afraid via my research I haven't found this available yet in the UK or the United States. It's from a brand called EZA in France. It seems that this brand has bought a bunch of these charges in bulk and is setting them in France, mind you the price is quite high for what it is. In my experience with using this charger it does work so it would work for the car to an e-bike but it does charge the battery incredibly slowly? You need a 42 volts at 2 amps to charge a 36 volt battery more quickly. Also the charger does seem to get quite warm when charging, best charged in a cool location. I have been researching other methods to charge the ebike battery via solar so stay tuned for future videos. Also have a look at the brand OZO electric.

    A question on your other roof top panels . Do you have a problem with hooking up different wattage panels ? Some say it is ok 👌. Others say it doesn't work .

    • @TheOneGoodRoad
      @TheOneGoodRoad 20 днів тому

      The main thing with mixing up different brand panels together is finding panels which are really similar to each other. I highly recommend researching a few videos which explain the main things that you should be looking for. As an example, the voltage will drop down to the lowest panel voltage in the series (if I remember correctly). So if you have one panel that's 170 watts at 24 volts and another panel at 180 Watts 23 volts they should work quite well together but if you have another panel that's 120 watts 22 volts and 200 Watts 35 volts these two panels won't work efficiently together. Hope that's helpful, again definitely worth researching further.

      So I just received something in the mail that allows me to convert the 18-20v from the solar panel into 36-42v needed to charge the my ebike battery via a small MPPT charge controller. In theory this should work via my brief testing with it so far. Now it's time for a test ride!

    • @TheOneGoodRoad
      @TheOneGoodRoad 23 дні тому

      I read your comment again I think I understand now that you are wondering if you can use MC4 connectors on a cable to a DC plug directly into your power station? Solar generators have mppt charge controllers inside of them already so yes you can do this.

      Not exactly, no. But almost all Solar Generators or Portable Power stations can charge via power directly coming from the solar panels. Because they have built in MPPT charge controller inside of them.

    • @williambrennan5701
      @williambrennan5701 22 дні тому

      @@TheOneGoodRoad just realize when you do that even if your converter was 100% efficient and its not you will lose a third or so of the wattage. So if your getting 90 watts x 3 270 watts total at 20 ish volts and you go to 36 your going to get 180 watts is perfect scenario cool panel direct sunlight . Honestly my math is not precise because 20 is not a third of 36 and you want to be higher than 36 to charge a 36 volt battery and there's no way to know the efficiency of what you have so honestly best case your solar set up would actually charge a 36 volt battery at a rate of around the 125 watt range. So assuming that e bike has the simplest gear hub type 250 watt motor you're looking at it taking twice as long to charge than ride. BUT If your bike has a multi mode controller and you put it in its lowest power and speed mode on level ground you maybe just might be able to run infinitely when the suns up.

      I just got back from a 4 day 75k hike and it does the job. One of the main features I like about the backpack is that there's a zip that allows you to get quickly into the entire bag and then it zips up the entire bag again. It's not the best backpack it's definitely a budget backpack in terms of comfort but it does a job for most people.

      It's true at the moment they are aimed at the premium market. I hope that could change, I'd like to see a competitor against quadlock to offer more reasonable prices for the rest of the mass market. 😉

    Idk if theres a 10spd variant of the ignite but mine was strange. When I'm in the heaviest gear, i can swing the lever in until i hear a single click and the derailleur moves to a lighter gear so that technically means it can support 10spd. So I bought a 10spd cassete and tested it. And suprisingly it works *kinda

      If you have a car and your looking for an alternative mode of transport, it's definitely worth considering. If you want to carry a lot of weight on the bike but move around like your riding a carbon road bike, it's worth it. For people with injuries, disabilities or recovery from surgery it's a game changer. If you have solar panels, it's a no brainer to also have an e-bike! 😉 I still ride it as normal without assistance cause I love the sport of cyclin as well!

    I would have carried over 6L of water. Also, for heat, discover powdered gatorade. Picking the absolute hottest time of the year places a premium on acclimatizing to the heat. Meaning, be out in it, exercising gently, plenty of water and salty food available, light colored cotton shirt, wide hat.

      They are such skinny tires, that's why! 😉 I prefer 26-28mm or even 32mm but then you start getting slowed down by the thickness of the tyre.

    Thanks a lot for this tutorial, which I found only after I discovered most of this by myself... ;) But your longer experience on My Maps might give me a clue to solve recent problems I experienced using My Maps : I've created itineraries, using both importing some kml files from other sites (Waymarked trails...) and creating my own lines with the line tool. And it was weird because, for a while I could only modify the lines I created, but not the imported files. And then suddenly, I could modify SOME (not all) imported files, but could not modify one of the lines I created myself. Do you have any clue of what happened, or what I did wrong ??? (and how to solve the matter). Also you mentionned (but maybe you brought answers on some other videos) the possibility of "fusing" several itineraries into one. Is that possible on My Maps, or do I have to use another software to do that ? Thanks for your help.

      Hello there. Honestly it's been quite some time since I've been working with route planning apps like this. I recommend these videos I made which might provide you with some useful information? - ua-cam.com/video/QMVGG09cOhw/v-deo.htmlsi=Fr7-MVXxFySUnsgF - ua-cam.com/video/nnl1WcVE8Aw/v-deo.htmlsi=KP8EFuCweFh3ZOxp Also checkout this website for combining GPX files. - gpx.studio If possible I recommend avoiding using MyMaps for the planning custom lines. I only use MyMaps as a free way to display my maps on my website and on any phone running Google Maps. Otherwise there are many other alternatives to MyMaps for the route planning part. That being said you can use MyMaps and it gets the job done.

      @TheOneGoodRoad Thanks for your response anyway. I found the origin of the problem, and it seemed to be the number of points. I started using some other websites to modify/cut/fusion my itineraries, and it now seems to be OK 👍!@@TheOneGoodRoad

      It's indicated on the tyres. Max pressure if your mostly going to ride on tarmac, way less pressure if your going off road for more grip.
